Semira is operated by Sevda Novruz ("we", "us", "our"). We are the data controller responsible for your personal data under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK-GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Without an account (anonymous browsing) — we only access your device location when you grant permission. We do not store your location on our servers.
When you sign in (optional) — sign-in is entirely optional. If you create an account via Apple or Google, we receive your name, email, and a unique user ID from the sign-in provider.
Data you choose to provide — dietary preferences, prayer preferences, favourites, and verification votes are only collected when you explicitly set or submit them.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Your data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS in the EU). All data is protected by row-level security — you can only access your own data. All connections use HTTPS encryption.
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete all associated data (profile, preferences, favourites, and votes) within 30 days.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):
Semira is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will change. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
